Lizette Abraham

Lizette Abraham creates outstanding photographic images based on gender and social issues.  Currently based in Mexico City, Lizette has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and a Master's degree in Design.

She develops a particular aesthetic of photography, exploring different creative processes for her images.  Since 2000, Lizette has also been dedicated to performance art, combining this discipline with photography.

Lizette has worked with fabric for six years, as the primary material to construct her ideas. During this time she has been exploring the design of characters, objects, landscapes and various scenarios.  In much of her work, Lizette uses her body as a working tool.  Along with these explorations, digital processes play an important role in her images.

Her career includes eleven solo exhibitions and more than sixty collective exhibitions in galleries, museums and cultural centers in the cities of Mérida, Bogotá, San Luis Potosí, Puebla, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nebraska, Berlin, among others.

Lizette’s current work was selected by the National Fund of Young Creators (FONCA) 2018 and was the winner of the Special Canon Prize in the "Third Contemporary Photography Contest" of Mexico, (FUMCA) in 2017.  In 2016, Lizette won First Place in the Festival International of the Image FINI, in the category of alternative professional techniques. In 2015 Lizette participated in the "Biennial of Constructed Photography of Bogotá" 2015.
